The Saints Return…With a Vengeance – An Interview with Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Their Fans

April 22nd, 2010

Ten years ago, director Troy Duffy went from just another LA bartender to Hollywood’s next big thing to sleeping one off on someone else’s floor. His script for The Boondock Saints was hot, attracting the backing of the Weinsteins with names like Ewan McGregor and Stephen Dorff up for parts. Then, depending on who you hear the story from (former friends, emphasis on the “former”, chronicle their take in the 2003 documentary Overnight), Duffy pissed a lot of people off and Columbine happened; nobody wanted anything to do with his stylized and glorified vigilante movie anymore. It was probably a bit of both. Still, Duffy kept at it, managing a practically-straight-to-video release from Franchise Pictures (excepting a brief five screen release rumored to be paid out of his own pocket).

Critics panned it across the board… READ MORE

ItsJustMovies: An Exclusive Interview With Norman Reedus

April 9th, 2010

– by SEAN GERSKI –

Back in 1999, when “Boondock Saints” came and went (after appearing in a handful of theaters), the odds of ever seeing a sequel to the movie were incalculably low. And, as time went by, the odds grew even longer.

But “Boondock Saints” is not your average movie — and “Boondock Saints” fans are far from your average fans. Director Troy Duffy had a vision to get a sequel made … and in 2009, that movie blazed its way inter theaters.

The two “Saints” — played by Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus — were completely on board with reprising the roles of Conner and Murphy McManus, even if it seemed (at times) like it might never happen.

Reedus said he never gave up faith in the sequel — but still was a bit shocked when they… READ MORE

Lexus Invites the Green-Oriented to Take a ‘Dark Ride’

March 31st, 2010

This an article in regards to the Lexus project…

Norman Reedus plays Tony the driver in an interactive film to promote the Lexus CT 200h, to come out in early 2011.

To help a new model stand out in an increasingly crowded category of hybrid automobiles, Lexus is turning to a new agency that specializes in strategic ideas — in this instance, to portray a “green” car as one honkin’ fast, hot ride.

The first work from the agency, a New York shop named Skinny that is owned by MDC Partners, invites drivers on a “dark ride” to experience the “darker side of green.”

A video clip on a Web site will offer the first look at the Lexus CT 200h, which Lexus, part of Toyota Motor, is calling a premium compact hybrid car. The new model is scheduled to be introduced in early 2011.

The film, about 12 and a half minutes long, will be interactive, Skinny executives say, allowing visitors to the Web site to play navigator during a wild ride in a CT 200h with a manic driver named Tony, portrayed by the actor Norman Reedus.

The trailer offers a sneak peek at the premise of the short film, which is set up by a voice-over narrator: “The opposition tried to steal our hybrid technology,” she says, and “you must make all the decisions and get the car to Los Angeles in one piece.”
The vignettes in the trailer are evocative of the classic Web video series called BMW Films, which featured Clive Owen as the … READ MORE
